What is monobenzone?

Monobenzone is a white crystalline powder soluble in alcohol,used to treat uneven skin tone.It is an organic chemical,also known as 4-(benzyloxy)phenol (MBEH), which is a monobenzyl ether of hydroquinone. In vitiligo drugs, the product name of the chemical is Benoquin. It accelerates the excretion of melanin from the cells that produce melanocytes.
