Glabridin is a flavonoid active ingredient extracted from licorice root.It is a common skin whitening ingredient.Only 1g of Glabridin can be extracted per 500kg of licorice root. Its whitening effect is 1000 times that of vitamin C.Therefore,it is also called "whitening gold".As the main component of licorice,Galabadine is mild and non-irritating,scientific whitening cosmetic ingredients.

Glabridin extract can penetrate deep into the skin and maintain high activity, whitening and antioxidant effects. In the process of melanin production,it inhibits the activity of various enzymes, especially the activity of tyramine. It also has the effect of preventing skin roughness and anti-oxidation,anti-flammation and antibacterial.

★What is the appearance and purity of your Glabridin?

Our Glabridin is white or off-white crystalline powder, with three purity grades available: 40% (cosmetic entry-level), 90% (cost-effective), 99% (high-end). All products are detected by HPLC, with low impurity, no color interference in formulations, and stable batch consistency.

★Is Glabridin water-soluble or oil-soluble? How to dissolve it in formulations?

Glabridin is lipophilic (oil-soluble) (Log P≈3.5), insoluble in pure water. It can be pre-dissolved in ethanol, propylene glycol, 1,3-butanediol or other organic solvents (recommended ratio 1:5) before adding to oil phase or emulsified formulations, which can significantly improve solubility and compatibility.

★What is the CAS number and source of Glabridin?

The CAS number of Glabridin is 59870-68-7, EINECS number: 611-908-7 (available for global customs clearance and product registration). Our Glabridin is extracted from wild-simulated Glycyrrhiza glabra in Xinjiang, China, with no pesticide residues, zero irrigation, and 100% natural raw materials.

★What skincare products is Glabridin suitable for?

Glabridin is widely used in high-end cosmetic formulations, including: whitening serums, spot-correcting creams, brightening essences, soothing lotions, post-sun repair products, anti-aging creams, eye creams, firming masks and sensitive skin care products.

★What is the recommended concentration of Glabridin in formulations?

The recommended addition concentration varies according to purity grades:

- 40% purity: 0.5%–2% (suitable for entry-level whitening products)

- 90% purity: 0.1%–1% (cost-effective, suitable for mainstream whitening and soothing products)

- 99% purity: 0.05%–0.5% (high-end, suitable for high-end anti-aging and sensitive skin products)

It can be adjusted according to product positioning and efficacy requirements.

★What pH range is suitable for Glabridin?

Glabridin is stable and effective in pH 5.0–7.0 (weakly acidic to neutral environment). Alkaline environment (pH>7.5) will accelerate its degradation and reduce its activity, so it is not recommended to use it in alkaline formulations.

★What ingredients can Glabridin be compounded with? (Glabridin compatible ingredients)

Glabridin has good compatibility, and can be compounded with the following ingredients to enhance efficacy:

- Whitening ingredients: Niacinamide, Arbutin, Tranexamic acid, VC derivatives (MAP, SAP, 3-O-Ethyl Ascorbic Acid)

- Soothing ingredients: Ceramide, Hyaluronic acid, Panthenol, Centella asiatica extract

- Anti-aging ingredients: Peptides, Retinol (low concentration), Collagen

It is not recommended to compound with strong acid ingredients (pH<4.0) to avoid reducing activity.

★How does Glabridin compare to Kojic Acid, Arbutin, and Vitamin C?

Glabridin is one of the most potent natural whitening agents. On a molar basis, its tyrosinase inhibition activity is 10-15x stronger than kojic acid and 30-50x stronger than arbutin. Unlike vitamin C, Glabridin is stable and does not oxidize. However, it is oil-soluble (not water-soluble) and significantly more expensive. It also provides anti-inflammatory benefits that most other whitening agents lack.

★What is the recommended dosage of Glabridin in skin care products?

Due to its high potency, only 0.1-1.0% is typically used.

Brightening serums / essences: 0.2-0.5%

Anti-spot creams / lotions: 0.3-1.0%

Daily moisturizers / toners: 0.1-0.3%

Anti-inflammatory / calming products: 0.1-0.2%

Even at 0.1%, Glabridin shows significant tyrosinase inhibition. At 0.5%, it is comparable to 2-3% kojic acid in efficacy but with much better skin tolerance.

★Is Glabridin approved for cosmetic use in the EU, USA, and China?

EU: Listed in CosIng as Glabridin (CAS 59870-68-7) with no concentration restriction.

USA: Allowed; FDA has no specific ban. It is also GRAS for certain food uses.

China (NMPA): Listed in IECIC 2021 (INCI: 光甘草定) with no maximum concentration specified (typical use ≤1%).

We provide full registration documents including COA, MSDS, TDS, and China compliance declaration.

★Is Glabridin natural? Does it come from licorice?

Yes, our Glabridin is derived from Glycyrrhiza glabra (licorice) root through a green extraction and purification process. It is 100% natural, non-GMO, and contains no synthetic additives. However, note that natural Glabridin is expensive and limited in supply. We also offer synthetic or bio-identical Glabridin at a lower cost – please ask for details. All grades are vegan and free from animal-derived ingredients.
